1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners about how their site is being used.
Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function β these do not require your consent. Others, including analytics and marketing cookies, are optional and will only be placed on your device if you choose to accept them via our cookie consent banner.

3. What cookies does this website use?
Our website uses the following categories of cookies. You can manage your preferences at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of our website.
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to operate correctly and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as filling in a form or setting your privacy preferences. You can configure your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the website may not function properly as a result. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information and do not require your consent.
3.2 Functional cookies
These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation β for example, remembering that you have subscribed to our newsletter so you are not prompted again. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we use on our pages. Functional cookies require your consent.
3.3 Analytics cookies (pending activation)
We intend to use Google Analytics 4 to help us understand how visitors use our website β for example, which pages are most popular, how long visitors stay, and where they arrive from. This data is aggregated and anonymised and does not identify you personally. Analytics cookies will only be activated once our cookie consent banner is in place and will only be set if you choose to accept them. They are not currently active on the site.
3.4 Marketing and advertising cookies (pending activation)
We intend to use the Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) to enable interest-based advertising β allowing us to show relevant advertisements to people who have visited our website when they browse Facebook and Instagram. Marketing cookies will only be activated once our cookie consent banner is in place and will only be set if you explicitly accept marketing cookies. They are not currently active on the site.

5. Third-party data transfers
Some cookies are set by third-party companies based outside the United Kingdom. When these cookies are active, data may be transferred internationally under the following safeguards:
- Automattic Inc. (WordPress) β USA. Transfers covered by Automattic’s participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- The Rocket Science Group LLC (Mailchimp) β USA. Transfers covered by Mailchimp’s participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- Google LLC (Google Analytics, Google Fonts) β USA. Transfers covered by Google’s participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Note: Google Fonts loaded via our WordPress theme makes a request to Google servers when you visit our site. This transfers your IP address to Google. We are reviewing whether to self-host Google Fonts to eliminate this transfer.
- Meta Platforms Inc. (Meta Pixel) β USA. Pending activation. Transfers will be covered by Meta’s participation in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How to manage your cookie preferences
When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner will ask for your permission before any non-essential cookies are placed on your device. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the ‘Cookie Settings’ link in the footer of our website.
6.1 Managing cookies through your browser
You can also control cookies directly through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View which cookies are stored and delete them individually
- Block third-party cookies from being set
- Block cookies from specific websites
- Delete all cookies when you close your browser
Browser-specific guidance:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data
Please note that restricting or blocking cookies may affect the functionality of our website, including contact and subscription forms.
6.2 Opting out of Google Analytics
Once Google Analytics is activated, you can opt out across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
6.3 Opting out of Meta advertising
Once the Meta Pixel is activated, you can opt out of interest-based advertising by adjusting your Ad Preferences within your Facebook or Instagram account settings, or by visiting: https://www.aboutads.info/choices/
7. A note on Google Fonts
Our website uses Google Fonts, a free typeface service provided by Google LLC. When you visit our website, your browser makes a request to Google’s servers to download the fonts used in the site’s design. This request includes your IP address and may constitute a transfer of personal data to Google in the USA, even though no persistent cookie is set.
We are reviewing whether to host these font files locally on our own server to eliminate this data transfer. In the meantime, this is disclosed here in the interest of full transparency. Google’s privacy policy is available at: https://policies.google.com/privacy
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We update this Cookie Policy whenever new cookies are added to the site, when existing cookies change, or to reflect updates in applicable law. The ‘last updated’ date and version number at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Planned updates to this policy include: confirmation of cookie consent banner installation, activation of Google Analytics 4 and Meta Pixel cookies, and confirmation of the Google Fonts self-hosting decision.
